The city of Woburn Planning department seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Planner. The Assistant Planner is appointed by the Planning/WRA Director. The Assistant Planner provides professional, technical work assisting the Director and other office staff in managing the responsibilities and obligations of the Planning Board and Redevelopment Authority and performing all administrative office functions of the Department including payroll, bills and budgeting.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in city planning, architecture, public administration, business, communications, or equivalent field. A master’s degree in public administration, city planning, business, or related field is preferred.
  2. At least four years of progressively responsible experience in municipal economic development, planning, or real estate development.
  3. Knowledge of basic subdivision planning and zoning permitting processes and practices.
  4. Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules, codes, procedures and policies or process to research those laws.
  5. Knowledge of methods and techniques of dispute resolution and public contact/service.

Salary – $79,590.60 per SEIU City Hall CBA
