The town of North Reading is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented individual to provide skilled accounting and administrative work. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and contribute to the strategic financial planning of the town. This candidate will assist the Finance Director in planning, directing, coordinating and controlling all financial and accounting functions for the town. The Assistant Finance Director is responsible for developing and maintaining financial records; assisting the Finance Director with the preparation on the annual operating and capital budgets; exercising budgetary controls and serving as the municipal expert in the MUNIS accounting system; preparing financial statements including statements and reports required by the Government Accounting Standards Board and the Mass. Department of Revenue; and all other related work, as required. The position requires thorough knowledge of town government and municipal finance. The incumbent exercises independent judgment and performs the duties of the Finance Director in his/her absence.
