The town of Dartmouth is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director of Planning. Excellent opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and innovative environment. This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Planning in the administrative and technical aspects of the department services, with a focus on resiliency, sustainability, and climate change efforts. The Assistant Director of Planning has a wide range of duties and responsibilities, ranging from reviewing plans for compliance with town regulations and zoning bylaws, providing administrative support to the Planning Board with limited support to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, and Historical Commission, as needed. Department duties may include drafting regulations, coordinating work, conducting research, and making recommendations. The Assistant Director of Planning is also responsible for providing residents, the business community, and the general public information on current land use and development issues in an accurate, timely, and detailed manner that instills public trust and confidence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geography, planning or related field; working knowledge of Mass. general laws and regulations; knowledge of planning, development and environmental issues.

Two years’ experience in municipal planning, GIS management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary: $27.84 – $36.23/hr
