The town of Braintree is seeking a qualified and motivated Assistant Director of Human Resources to support the full scope of HR operations. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the entire employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management (FMLA, ADA), and offboarding. The Assistant Director supervises the HR Generalist and Benefits Coordinator, ensuring consistency in policy application and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Key responsibilities include assisting with labor negotiations, investigations, policy development, and contract administration. The Assistant Director also manages personnel records, supports the payroll process, oversees workers’ compensation and injury-on-duty (IOD) claims, and ensures data integrity in the HRIS system (Munis preferred). This role serves as Acting Director in the absence of the Human Resources Director and is expected to exercise independent judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, with four years of human resources experience; or associate’s degree in human resources management, with six years of human resources experience.; municipal experience and knowledge of labor relations are highly preferred.
