We are seeking a qualified and motivated professional to join our team as the full-time Assistant Director of Assessing within the Finance and Assessing department. Working under the general supervision of the Director of Assessing, this position determines the valuation of all taxable and exempt property within Lexington in strict compliance with Massachusetts DOR guidelines. Additionally, the role supervises inspection personnel, administers tax relief and abatement programs, and evaluates taxpayer filings and legal appeals. Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus five years of real estate employment with three years of assessing experience, including knowledge of tasks for Assessor’s position, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required. Computer literacy is required. Expert knowledge of Massachusetts Real Estate Appraisal is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred. Anticipated hiring range: $93,982 – $98,211.
