The Assistant Commissioner for Administration and Planning is responsible for the planning and operations related to finance and budget, human resources, employee safety, information technology, community relations, and operations management. They directly manage 20 staff and have delegated supervisory responsibility for 250 full-time employees in professional, technical, administrative and labor service positions.

The ideal candidate will have a vision for professional management of a municipal operations department. They will bring an adaptive and curious approach to management that will both leverage existing talent and capabilities while also identifying and filling organizational gaps. Finally, the ideal candidate will be action and detail oriented.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Five or more years of management experience with demonstrated growth in responsibilities and achievements. Experience in implementing process improvements in complex organizations. Excellent writing and communication skills. Strong problem solving and mediation abilities.
