The Wareham Fire District is seeking an Assistant Clerk/Treasurer to join our team and to grow within our organization.

Responsibilities include: The Assistant Clerk/Treasurer is responsible for many administrative and financial functions in support of the Wareham Fire District. This position works under the direction of the Clerk/Treasurer and is responsible for preparing payroll, accounts payable, posting departmental turnovers and other financial operations. This person will assist with District elections and administrative HR functions including recruiting and onboarding, benefit administration, FMLA tracking and maintaining personnel files.

 Education and Experience: High school education or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of municipal experience with a background in payroll, finance, accounting or human resources. This work requires someone with attention to detail and strong communication skills. Must be proficient in Excel and Word and be able to learn Harpers payroll and KVS software. Must be bondable and willing to obtain certification by Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association within three years if not currently certified.

 Schedule: 40-hour work week M-F 7:30 a.m. -4 p.m.

 Salary and Benefits: Full-time Benefit-eligible position; hourly range $26.00 – $31.25. The Wareham Fire District provides a generous benefit package including health, dental and life insurance.
