The city of Melrose is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Auditor to join the Auditor’s Department. Under the strategic direction of the Chief Financial Officer/City Auditor, the qualified candidate will manage administrative, accounting, and supervisory responsibilities to ensure the operational effectiveness of the department. Key duties include preparing annual budgets and year-end reporting, consulting with department management, reconciling accounts, and supervising payroll and accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, five to seven years of municipal accounting experience, three years of supervisory experience and proficiency in MUNIS, AP and Payroll systems and familiarity with MGL, UMAS and GAAP principles.
