Assistant Assessor- Residential
Town of Natick
The town of Natick is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and highly organized Assistant Assessor-Residential to join our team. A motivated professional will thrive performing technical and administrative work to assist the assessment and appraisal functions for the town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field inspections for residential property for permit activity, cyclical, and appeal purposes.
- Accurately measures, lists, and inventories residential new construction, often large, complex dwellings.
- Reviews plans and permits through OpenGov software. Utilizes software for permit tracking and sign-offs for project completion/issuance of certificates of occupancy.
- Meets with taxpayers to discuss property characteristics, valuations, and valuation methodology.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Provide excellent customer service with taxpayers, builders, property owners and co-workers.
- Performs other related duties including assisting property tax exemption applicants and processing Motor Vehicle excise abatements through the MUNIS software program.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in the assessing or appraisal related field
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Certification as a Massachusetts Accredited Assessor (MAA) preferred or the ability to acquire this certification within three years.
- Strong research, data analysis, and reporting skills
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Experience with Tyler IAS or other mass appraisal software a plus
- Experience with municipal financial software (MUNIS preferred)

The town of Natick offers a generous benefit package in addition to competitive salary. Grade 3 classification pay plan, expected hiring range $72,000-$80,000, salary is commensurate with education and experience.
