The town of Falmouth welcomes applications from experienced professionals to join our Assessing team as the full-time Assistant Assessor. The Assistant Assessor is an Assistant Division Head level position that assists the Director of Assessing in managing the Assessing Division of the Finance Department and ensuring accurate and fair property tax assessments that are vital to funding essential municipal services. This is a full-time, benefited position that works at the Falmouth Town Hall and in the field 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in business management, finance, statistics, mathematics, or related field with courses in property assessment and three to five years of experience performing assessing/appraisal work for tax purposes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must have a valid Massachusetts Class D driver’s license. Massachusetts Accredited Assessor (MAA) certification preferred or must obtain MAA certification within twelve (12) months of employment. Must maintain MAA certification throughout the Assistant Assessor appointment.
Expected Starting Range: Step 1 ($37.22/hour) – Step 7 ($47.09/hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience.
