The town of Wellesley is currently seeking a full-time (35 hour/week) Assessor Technician to ensure that residential and commercial properties within the town are accurately described and recorded for tax assessment purposes. Duties include establishing and conducting systematic field reviews of all properties to comply with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue mandated inspection requirements, preparing scaled sketches of building footprints, assisting with maintenance of field cards and inputting data into the town’s Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) database and answering the public’s requests for information pertaining to plot plans, property assessments, statutory exemptions, abatements, and motor vehicle excise. Use of own vehicle is required and working outside normal business hours in order to gain entry into buildings at the convenience of the owner may also be required on occasion. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, two to three years of municipal mass appraisal or fee appraisal experience, knowledge of land and building appraisal methods, real estate values, construction costs and laws and regulations governing property tax assessments. Must be proficient with word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and possession of a valid driver’s license a must. The hourly rate for this position is $27.19.
