Animal Control Officer

 The town of Shirley Police Department is currently accepting applications to fill an on-call per-diem animal control officer position. Under the direction, control and supervision of the Police Chief and or his designee. This position is responsible for animal control enforcement laws, regulations, and investigative work enforcing state statutes and town bylaws relating to the control and care of animals.

Salary: $7355 annual salary, $280.72 bi-weekly-stipend position with no benefits.

Duties: The position requires the knowledge of routine duties well defined by state laws and town bylaws. Ability to write reports, good judgement and decision making skills. Catch and detain, if necessary, stray, runaway, or injured dogs. Seek treatment for ill/injured impounded dogs as necessary. Work with the Shirley Police Department to investigate charges of animal cruelty.
