Position: Administrative Assistant to the Select Board and Town Manager

Location: 10 Nickerson Ave., Middleborough, MA

Status: Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week      

Wages: $60,000-70,000/annually – Salary commensurate with experience  

The Administrative Assistant to the Select Board/Select Board Designee is responsible for routine to complex administrative and secretarial work in providing support services to the office of the Select Board; and all other work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Prepares the agenda for weekly meetings of the Select Board and shares the agenda in compliance with the Open Meeting Law.
  • Attends all Executive Meetings of the Select Board and is responsible for recording, transcribing, and sharing meeting minutes weekly.
  • Facilitate conversation between the Select Board, Town Manager, and various town departments, ensuring the timely dissemination of information and effective coordination of activities.
  • Responsible for processing bills for Select Board and Town Manager.
  • Conduct research, compile data, and prepare reports as directed by the Select Board.
  • Plans special events and activities for the Select Board and Town Manager as needed.
  • Assists town officials, boards, commissions, and agencies with questions, report inquiries, and general information.
  • Assists the Select Board and Town Manager on various projects and initiatives.
  • Processes mail, and prepares correspondence, memoranda, and notices.
  • Prepares postings of meetings, public hearings, and other official convenings.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and exercises discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Performs other related job duties as required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree in business, communications, or a closely related field with three to five years of professional experience in administrative work, public relations, secretarial work, municipal government, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Notary public required.
