The city of Cambridge is seeking an Administrative Assistant to assist the Office Manager in the daily operation of the Law Department. This position requires strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills in executing an assortment of legal work. Types legal pleadings, briefs, opinions, contracts, deeds, leases, ordinances, and legislation as requested from handwritten, rough, and straight drafts. Performs online searches and research in legal dockets and databases. Types general interoffice and outgoing correspondence. Composes standardized correspondence and legal documents from generalized instructions. One year legal experience required, two preferred. Knowledge of court rules and procedures is essential as well as familiarity with legal terminology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook for Windows) and ability to learn new software applications including, but not limited to, claims, public records, and litigation management software. Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Accurate typing skills of 30 mailable words per minute, 50 preferred.  Some advanced legal training or experience preferred, including paralegal training and/or experience. $24.65-$34.13 per hour with competitive benefits.
