The Administrative Assistant I provides clerical and administrative support to the City Clerk, focusing on accurate recordkeeping, public assistance, and support for municipal functions such as licensing, vital records, elections, and parking ticket processing. Responsibilities include coordinating service requests, processing fees, and managing applications and official documents while delivering professional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
The role requires regular interaction with municipal staff, elected officials, boards, businesses, state agencies, and the public through in-person, phone, and written communication. The ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or substantial experience in a Municipal Clerk’s Office or parking enforcement, plus at least three years of progressively responsible administrative experience (municipal experience preferred). Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Employment is contingent upon successful reference and CORI checks. Starting pay is $29.86 per hour, based on the current union contract and experience.
