The Chelmsford Water District seeks qualified applicants for the full-time Accountant – Payroll Benefits Coordinator.
Duties: Under the general supervision of the Business Director the Accountant – Payroll Benefits Coordinator responsibilities include managing all expense, revenue and general ledgers and preparing journal entries as required. The accountant will provide reports for monthly and annual book closing and are responsible for cash reconciliation and payroll. Assists Business Director during annual audit and free cash certification. Responsible for bi-weekly payroll and benefit management. Assists in procurement activity. Utilizes integrated financial software and maintains a high degree of accuracy with the ability to meet specified deadlines.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business, or similar field of study. Master’s degree is highly advantageous. Five-plus years of experience in municipal finance. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Account Principles, Massachusetts Certified Public Procurement certification is highly desirable. Aptitude for computer work, self-motivator, effective time management. Commitment to stay knowledgeable with software upgrades and technologies.
Salary: $43.59 to $51.28 per hour based on experience. 37.5 hours per week. 100% paid benefits and Middlesex Retirement eligible.
