The city of Cambridge is seeking a 911 Care Clinician who will provide behavioral health support within a 911 Call Center to individuals experiencing mental health crises, homelessness, or substance use issues. Conduct lethality and safety assessments, share critical information with responders, and de-escalate crises using trauma-informed and harm reduction techniques. Offer short-term counseling and connect callers to appropriate medical and community resources. Maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries. Perform follow-up case management and ensure accurate documentation. Collaborate with internal and external partners, including police, community safety teams, and local providers, through meetings, site visits, and court sessions. Support dispatcher wellness by leading initiatives on workplace stress, trauma, and peer support. Develop and implement the department’s Crisis Intervention Stress Management protocols. Consult on mental health impacts of policies, assist in managing high-frequency callers, and create best practices for dispatchers handling behavioral health-related calls. Promote access to mental health resources for dispatch staff and provide training on relevant mental health topics. Hold a master’s in psychology, counseling, or social work; Massachusetts license or eligibility; two years’ experience; CPR/First Aid certified; valid driver’s license preferred; eligible for State 911 certification.

Rate: $93,820.75 – $103,872.62 Annually
