The city of Watertown seeks a professional, detailed-oriented, self-motivated individual to join the Commander’s Mansion office as a Sales, Marketing and Venue Coordinator. This integral member of the team will be responsible for sales, marketing and event management for all private events at the Commander’s Mansion. Duties and responsibilities include conducting all prospective client tours, maintaining communication with clients and vendors, attending networking events and expos, building clientele, and collaborating with the Events Manager to increase publicity as a private event rental venue. This position would also require the individual to be onsite to manage each private event in its entirety. The team is looking for a candidate who is adaptable and equipped to handle a variety of tasks that will change from day to day. Flexibility in managing different responsibilities and priorities will be the key to success in this role. The Sales, Marketing and Venue Coordinator will be under the direction of the Events Manager within the Department of Community Development and Planning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in hospitality (hotel-motel-tourism), facility management, business administration, historic preservation or related field is required. Minimum of one-year prior experience in function and facility management is also required. Ability to lift 25 pounds and to set up the rooms with tables and chairs for corporate events. Knowledge of website management and social media, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, and customer relationship management tool like Planning Pod preferred. A valid Massachusetts driver’s license and experience with Microsoft Office software required. Excellent customer service, written and oral communication skills required.
HOURS/TERMS: The work week is 37.5 hours. There will be required in office hours but those can be flexible due to the requirement of working some evening and weekend hours for events.
SALARY: This is a union position with an annual 15 step salary range of $67,643 to $89,253. Hiring above Step 1 is dependent on qualifications and experience and applicants are typically hired in the lower half of the range.
