The town of Great Barrington is seeking a Lead Administrative Coordinator to support the Department of Public Works and help deliver the essential services to residents. About the Role
This senior administrative role provides coordinated support across all divisions of the Department of Public Works, including Highway, Facilities, Wastewater, Cemetery, and Parks & Recreation. Working closely with Public Works leadership and other Town departments, the position supports budgeting, procurement, contracts, grants, compliance, wastewater administration, and board and committee coordination, while serving as a primary point of contact for residents, vendors, and external partners.

- Salary Range: $60,000 – $64,000
What You’ll Do
- Provide senior administrative support to Public Works leadership
- Coordinate department-wide administrative, procurement, and financial processes
- Support grants, contracts, bid administration, and compliance requirements
- Serve as a primary point of contact for residents, vendors, and partners
- Administer wastewater-related billing and customer service functions
- Support boards and committees affiliated with the department
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in public administration, municipal operations, or a related field
- Experience supporting municipal, public works, utilities, or operational departments
- Familiarity with municipal financial and procurement systems (MUNIS or similar ERP systems preferred)
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment
- A customer-service mindset grounded in professionalism, clarity, and collaboration
