The Director is appointed by and reports to the Mayor. The department of Public Works (“DPW”) is a fast-paced, service driven department with ever-changing priorities, multiple demands and responsibilities. The Department oversees critical public works functions that improve and maintain critical city resources including parks, streets and sidewalks. This position requires a self-motivated, knowledgeable, energetic and proactive professional to lead all daily operations including scheduling, planning, supervising, and oversight of all units within DPW. The Director is responsible for creating an environment for success, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, and driving execution in a fast-paced environment.

The city of Malden is seeking an energetic, team-oriented, experienced leader with demonstrated problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills. Must have a positive attitude, integrity, and an interest in continuously improving all activities and operations. The ability to work effectively with elected officials, a union workforce, police, fire, other city departments, private contractors, vendors, engineering consultants, the public, and state and federal agencies is a must. To be successful the candidate must thrive in a fast-paced work environment and be able to work collaboratively and cohesively to motivate and maintain an organized and structured team.
