The town of Norton is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Information Technology professional to lead and modernize the town’s IT services. The Director of Information Technology is responsible for overseeing and improving all municipal technology systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and user support across town departments.

This position operates at both the strategic and technical levels. The Director will plan long-term technology initiatives, manage daily network operations, administer cloud and on-premise systems, support municipal users, and ensure reliability of communications and business continuity. Norton is actively modernizing systems, improving interoperability, and pursuing more efficient service delivery. The Director will play a central role in that effort.

Core responsibilities include: maintaining town LAN and WAN infrastructure; oversight of servers, switches, firewall/security systems, and cloud environments; administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Azure AD, VoIP, backups, and remote access; establishing cybersecurity standards and recovery protocols; providing Help Desk support and staff training; cataloging hardware/software inventory and planning replacement cycles; managing vendors and service contracts; contributing to operational and capital budgeting; and coordinating IT projects across departments.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, information technology management, or a related discipline; five years of progressively responsible experience with network administration, enterprise systems, and user support; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Municipal experience and professional certifications are preferred.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $111,488 DOQ. Full municipal benefits and Massachusetts pension system.
