The city of Somerville is in search of a Director of Finance and Administration for the department of Public Works. The position oversees all administrative, financial, and customer service functions of the department of Public Works business office. Responsibilities include supervising office operations; managing accounting, budgeting, payroll, and revenue tracking; forecasting revenues and expenditures; and monitoring operating, contract, and capital spending. The role provides financial analysis, prepares operational reports, and recommends budget adjustments. Duties also include developing administrative procedures and controls, maintaining fiscal oversight of divisional budgets, and supporting departmental policy development. The employee coordinates purchasing and contracting activities, including drafting specifications, negotiating with vendors, monitoring vendor performance, and assisting with contract negotiations. Additional responsibilities include managing centralized service and complaint functions, reviewing financial records for accuracy, and working with department leadership to ensure efficient operations, cost control, and effective service delivery. Performs other related duties that may be assigned. 

Hours: Full-Time

Salary: $110,000, annualized, plus benefits.
