About the Role

The Compensation & Benefits Coordinator is central to the town’s operations and culture. This role ensures accurate payroll administration, coordinates employee benefit programs, and serves as a trusted resource for employees navigating important life and career moments from onboarding to retirement.

By maintaining compliance, accuracy, and consistency, this position helps strengthen employee trust, organizational continuity, and overall municipal effectiveness.

Position Details

  • Status: Full-Time, Non-Union, Non-Exempt
  • Department: Treasurer/Collector
  • Salary Range: $57,000 – $60,000

What You’ll Do

  • Administer payroll and employee benefits with precision and care
  • Support employees through onboarding, life events, and retirement
  • Coordinate benefit programs and serve as a liaison with vendors and retirement systems
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll and benefits processes

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in HR, business, finance, or public administration
  • Two to three years of experience in payroll, benefits, HR, or municipal finance
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and discretion
  • A customer-service mindset grounded in empathy, clarity, and professionalism
