BUILDING INSPECTOR / ZONING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
The town of Northbridge (pop 16,335) seeks applications for the position of Inspector of Buildings/Zoning Enforcement Officer. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Building Department. Performs building inspections and plan review to ensure compliance with the town’s building, electrical, mechanical/plumbing codes and bylaws; enforces state, local and federal building codes and local zoning bylaws; a thorough knowledge of the State Building Code, Mass General Laws and the ability to read designs and plans is required. Also performs field inspections and investigations of violations and checks compliance with approved site plans; orders compliance when deficiencies or infractions are noted.
Applicants shall hold a Massachusetts certification as Inspector of Buildings and a valid motor vehicle driver’s license. A high school education and a minimum of five years of experience in the supervision of building construction or design is required; a bachelor’s degree in a field related to building construction or design is highly desirable; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
This is a full-time (35 hrs/wk) exempt salaried position with a FY27 salary range of $72,016-$96,529 DOQ.
