The town of Berlin seeks qualified applicants for the position of Building Commissioner/Zoning Enforcement Officer. This position is responsible for the enforcement and interpretation of the state building code, local zoning bylaws and all other applicable regulations, conducting site inspections, and overseeing the building department including reviewing zoning and building applications, site plans and special permits.
The successful candidate will have five years of supervisory experience in building construction or design, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The applicant must have a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, Construction Supervisor’s License, and Massachusetts Certification as a Building Commissioner. Experience with online permitting software including OpenGov preferred. This is a salaried, FLSA exempt, benefitted position estimated to work 30 hours per week with an annual salary of $70,000+/-, DOQ.
