The town of Dracut is seeking a full-time Assistant Treasurer/Collector to join our Finance Department. This dynamic role supports critical financial operations, including tax collection, cash management, payroll, and accounts payable, while serving as deputy in the Treasurer/Collector’s absence. You’ll help ensure compliance with Massachusetts General Laws and maintain the integrity of municipal finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and process Town receivables, issue tax bills, and demand notices.
  • Reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and assist with payroll and AP functions.
  • Supervise and train clerical and financial staff; maintain office operations.
  • Respond to taxpayer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure accurate records.
  • Act as Treasurer/Collector when needed, overseeing treasury funds and payroll.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Three to five years in municipal finance, payroll, or collections (or equivalent).
  • Supervisory experience a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software (VADAR, Harper’s, QuickBooks).
  • CORI clearance, fidelity bonding, and willingness to obtain MA Collectors & Treasurers certification.

Salary: $58,640–$70,033 annually, 35 hrs/week.
Status: Non-Union | Grade 10 | Exempt
