The town of Leicester seeks motivated applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Town Accountant. Position is responsible for entering cash receipts and preparing town and School warrants including payroll/AP for review and approval by the Town Accountant. Assists Town Accountant in compiling data necessary for completing financial reports to be sent to the government agencies and other town departments.

Maintains up-to-date spreadsheets, reporting 1099’s and entering the town’s fiscal year operating budget into the town’s financial software system.

Balances and reconciles data for specific accounts including payroll; checks against warrant registers; identifies traces and otherwise resolves discrepancies in balancing accounts in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications: Minimum of an associate’s degree or journeyman’s level of trade knowledge; a minimum of three to five years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must pass a CORI check. Experience with VADAR is preferred.

The town of Leicester offers competitive salary and benefits, including a four-day work week. Starting rate is $23.39 to $29.64 per hour, based on a 37.5-hour week.

Salary commensurate with experience for qualified candidates.
